Speed Camera Detection
Are you an Accidental Speeder?
With many speed cameras around the country, it’s very hard not to be caught speeding, whether it’s on purpose or the occasional time you’re going downhill with a slight lack of concentration. Also, depending on the speed, most car speedometers may be slightly out on their calibration.
There are many devices on the market that claim to do this and that, but here at Source we only deal with the products we use ourselves so we know they work well.
GPS System
The first product we recommend is purely a GPS device. These products inform you of the position of a fixed camera site or a possible mobile site in relation to where your vehicle is, irrelevant of the type of camera, be it the new style digital camera or the older style radar system.
Most of the systems we use for this will, while you’re driving, show you your driving speed and then when you come to the range of a fixed camera site, the unit will tell you the speed limit of the particular road and count you down until you reach the camera. If it’s a mobile camera site, then the unit will advise you to take extra care as you are approaching a location where there sometimes is a mobile van. Depending on price and features there are several products we stock to give you a variation on usability.
Laser Parking System
The other product we use is a laser parking system. The system is designed to assist the driver when parking a vehicle and prevent unnecessary damage to the bodywork, as well as warning of approaching hazards. We believe this product will increase your driving pleasure and keep you and your vehicle safe from unnecessary damage for many years to come. The unit is supplied with a single laser sensor which can be fitted to either the front or the rear of the vehicle and additional laser sensor heads are available which plug in to the same junction box.
The unit uses the licence free 904nm laser frequency. The same frequency as used by several motor manufacturers like Nissan’s adaptive cruise control system, which uses laser to determine the distance immediately in front of the vehicle and to deactivate the cruise control if the stopping distance is considered to be too short. Police laser guns also use the same 904 nm frequency.
